Shame on you if you are not excited at the prospect of making sauerkraut! It's fabulous stuff, y'all! It's FULL of probiotics that are great for your gut health, and well---sauerkraut just tastes good! It's salty, sour, crunchy---what's not to love? It's also versatile. You can eat it raw, or fry some up in a pan with diced onion and slap it on a hot dog or on a plate with smoked sausage! It's just about the easiest thing in the world to make, too----Mother Nature does half the work for you! All you need is fresh cabbage, kosher or canning salt, water, and a container with a lid!
See this lovely jar of kraut I made? It tastes better than anything you can buy at the store, and all it takes is a little effort of your part. I think you'll love it if you take the time to do it. However, I totally get it if you are not a 'cabbage person.' I don't understand you, but I get that there are people who don't eat it. Oh well--more for me! I hope you watch the video posted below and see for yourself how simple making kraut is! You can ferment just about any vegetable. I've done carrots, cucumbers, green beans, cauliflower, onions, and peppers!
