Ahhhh....Fried OKRA!! The mere mention of the name brings a smile to the face of every TRUE Southerner. It's in our DNA to love the stuff! It's crunchy, salty, and totally YUMMY!!! Unfortunately, not everyone can cook it properly. My method is the 'deep fried' method. Some folks like to use a cast iron skillet and very little oil, but I find my way works best for me. Now if I HAD a cask iron skillet that was deep, then I'd be happy to fry my okra in it. But I don't, so I just use what I have. I'd love for you to try it yourself. Be sure to let me know how it goes! I think you will enjoy the end result!
Beautiful stuff, isn't it? And the thing about okra I admire so much is that it fries up just as well if you use frozen okra rather than fresh! Either way, it fries up golden brown, with a crunchy outside that keeps you coming back for more! Don't forget the salt! You gotta have it!
